What’s the big picture?

Sharing photos on the web is really awesome. As a photo sharing website, we couldn’t agree more. With so much innovation, online photo sharing has become fast, convenient, mostly free, and best of all, social. But there are still those times when you just need a physical print of something very special that you took. Maybe you just had a baby, and grandma keeps pestering you to mail her prints of her beloved grandson. Maybe the inlaws want prints of your latest vacation, but you never seem to find time to get your digital photos printed. Maybe you’d just like to have a print of that beautiful sunset you took on your phone. This is where Picwing comes in. All you have to do is email or upload your photos using one of our widgets and we’ll print and mail it to whoever you want twice a month. It’s so simple. Just send your photos and never have to think about it again, because it will already be on its way to whoever you want. Printing photos doesn’t have to be a deliberate process. It can be as random and serendipitous as life is. We’re innovating on a timeless, old-fashioned tradition to make it much easier and much less time-consuming.

How is this different from other services, like Shutterfly?

Getting digital photos printed through other websites is such a big pain! You have to copy the photos onto your computer, upload them to the website, and then enter your credit card and mailing information every time you want to print something. Picwing’s benefit can be summed up in one word: Convenience. Using one of our widgets to print your photos takes only a second:

• Print and mail photos straight from your iPhone
• Snap a photo with your Android phone and send them to your loved ones instantly
• Print photos simply by emailing them to your own @picwing.com address
• Print photos directly from your Picasa Desktop Application
• Drag and drop your photos into our desktop application to have them printed and mailed
• Upload your photos through our website to have them mailed to your friends and family

Are there other cool things I should know?

You can have a shared Picwing account. This means that you can allow other people that you know send photos to be printed. For example, you can have a Picwing printing account for your entire family. Our plans also allow you to have multiple recipients for your printed photos. Want to print and mail photos to your grandma, but also want a copy for yourself? No problem. We’ll print 2 copies and send it to both of you. You can have plans with upto 6 recipients.

What’s the business model?

Picwing has 2 pricing plans: 1) Monthly printing plan (starting at $4.95/month): You’ll be allowed to email/upload 15 photos every month. They'll be printed and shipped to each of your recipients. The monthly fee includes the cost of all your printing and shipping. 2) Pay-As-You-Go ($0.19/print and $2.45/shipment.): You’ll be allowed to email/upload as many or as little photos every month. They'll also be printed and shipped to each of your recipients. Pay only for each photo you print and ship.

What kind prints do you send?

We print on high quality Kodak 4x6 glossy paper. Our Pro Services lab produces high quality prints with sharp colors. Every day we calibrate and balance our printers so you receive consistent and flawless prints.

Who are you?

Picwing is based out of San Franciso and was started out of a need for its founder, Edward Kim, to send printed photos to his parents without having to spend too much time thinking about it.
